How you "package" and present yourself (dress, grooming, voice and behaviour) speaks volumes about your sense of quality, creativity, professionalism, how you value yourself and respect others. What are you projecting about yourself to others? Do you need to update your image? If you do then maybe it is time for a mini makeover.

Mini Makeover Checklist

Nails

Do you need to make an appointment for a manicure and pedicure?

Hair

Does the colour, cut and style of your hair compliment the image you want to project?

Skin

What skin products or treatments are in order?

Do you need to revise your makeup using the most flattering colours and techniques that suit you?

Body

What actions do you have to take to make your body healthy?

Being in shape has become a metaphor for being in control of yourself.

  • Do you need to loose a few pounds?  Do you have and exercise plan?  what concrete actions will you take?  What rewards will you give yourself when you carry it through?  Do you need to join a gym or exercise class? Need a personal trainer but don't have time to go to the Gym? Check out the many online places where you can create your own tailored plan. However, this option is not suitable for everyone as many people need the motivation of an actual person to help them stick to a plan - decide for yourself if this is right for you.

  • Do you need to make an appointment for a physical check up?

  • Have you been putting off dental work and medical treatment?

  • When was the last time you had an eye exam, do you need new glasses?

  • How is your hearing?

Clothing

Each season we tend to head for the nearest store and impulse buy on new items of clothing ending up with a wardrobe of mismatched clothes and the frustration of "I have nothing to wear". The first step to a wardrobe that works well is to take everything out and try it on. Be ruthless discarding garments that simply don't look good on you or cannot be combined into outfits. When you have done this you should be left with a few items that will form the basis for your wardrobe ready to hang in the closet by category, outfit or possibilities.

Your clothes are your image. Check in the mirror and see what others see.

  • Do you need to make an appointment with an image consultant?

  • Do you need to make a list of the items that need to be purchased to complete or enhance your wardrobe? What about mending, shoe repairs, laundry and dry cleaning?

Style and flair are longer lasting than beauty at any age. If you have ever been to Paris you'll have noticed how effortlessly stylish the women look - even in a simple T-shirt and pair of jeans. So, exactly how do they do it? Their fashion flair stems from knowing what suits them - understanding their body shape and how to accentuate their assets and minimize their flaws.

The female body essentially comes in five different shapes:

Pear-shaped - with wider hips and a smaller bust. Pear shapes should go for an A-line or flared skirt in a darker shade to de-emphasize their lower half. Avoid clingy pencil skirts and minis.

Round - with a generous torso, narrow hips and slender legs. Round figures need to steer clear of gathered or pleated skirts and opt instead for a tailored fit to visually elongate the body.

Hour Glass - with a pronounced bust, narrow waist, curved hips and shapely legs. Hour-glass figures suit long, straight skirts or delicate flounced styles.

V-Shaped - with broad shoulders, an average to full bust, narrow hips and long, defined legs. Flared skirts will help balance the wide shoulders on v-shaped women.

Boyish - which is more angular and devoid of curves. Boyish figures can wear virtually any skirt type, but flowing bias-cut and flared skirts will soften and add curves to their silhouettes.

Determine what shape your body is and dress to suit your body and who you are.

Recycle and help your community

With so many people in need of your help through floods, earthquakes, tornado's, wild fires or simply through life circumstances why not take the time to go through your home this week and find items that you can donate to ease someone's life in less fortunate circumstances.

There is always a need for used clothing to be donated to your local Goodwill shop, Salvation army or Red cross. Blankets, Old Pots and pans, and children's toys are also required.
