Vintage posters originated mostly in Europe. They were commissioned by European advertisers to help market products and services including food, liquor, travel, and entertainment. The posters were printed with a technique known as stone lithography, which enabled artists and printers to achieve stunning graphics through the use of vibrant colour. Influenced by Art Deco and Art Nouveau these vintage posters make an ideal decorative accent to add a dash of nostalgia to the home.

Collectors of vintage posters come in many varieties - Gallery owners, home decorators, and hotel and restaurant owners are among the many collectors interested in acquiring these unique prints. The value of a vintage poster is based on a combination of factors. The most common factors are the physical condition of the print, the artist, the subject matter of the image, and the rarity of the print. Some people collect vintage posters for the subject matter, some look for particular colour schemes, while others prefer the style of a particular artist. Regardless of a collector’s preference, a poster that is in good physical condition will always command a higher price and the rarity of the print will add to its value.
