There's nothing quite like a family tradition to create cherished memories. And for many of us, those memories take place in the kitchen, especially at holiday times. Kids and moms alike treasure making something special together, and at Easter that usually means decorating eggs.

This year, why not start a new family custom that's fun, easy - and edible. With a simple twist on trusted Kellogg's Rice Krispies treats, moms and kids can create these decorative yummy bunnies. They're so simple and fun to make, they're sure to become a family holiday ritual.

Let the kids' measure out the ingredients beforehand. They can also try rolling the treats into balls to make the bunny heads and bodies, as well as decorating the finished bunny.

To display bunnies, arrange them on a tray and decorate with construction-paper baskets filled with mini-marshmallows. You can also pack the bunnies in clear gift bags tied with ribbon and deliver them to friends.

Rice Krispies Easter Bunnies Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter

  • 1 packet regular marshmallows

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

  • Prepared icing for decoration

  • Pink construction paper cut into bunny ears

  • Liquorice

Preparation

1. Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.

2. Stir in vanilla. Stir in Rice Krispies cereal until well coated. Using 1/4 cup measure and buttered hands, shape cereal mixture into 7 cm balls.

3. Use icing to attach two balls together to form bunny body and head. Use icing to attach paper bunny ears and liquorice for whiskers. Make eyes and tail and other features using favourite candies like chocolate chips, jelly beans and marshmallows. Use icing to attach.
